Changes in oil can be easily determined by FTIR analysis. Typically, this involves comparing a known IR spectrum with a measured oil IR spectrum. If, for example, oxygen groups appear, this indicates aging of the oil. With changes in the hydroxyl groups, the water content in the sample can be determined. In addition, spectrum comparison can identify adulterated oil to ensure that only a specific organic or synthetic oil is used. The same is true for identifying the composition of oil blends. Depending on the length of the PAL System a large number of samples can be hold ready for automated processing.

Advantages of the CHRONECT Workstation FTIR:

  • The integrated PAL System and the control software CHRONOS enable automated sample preparation with air bubble free aspiration of the oil sample without droplets 
  • The injection port of the flow cell of the IR unit is served precisely for subsequent FTIR measurement 
  • Washing of the injection port with fresh solvent allows the check of any potential carryover by the generation of a solvent control spectrum. Optionally a reminder to clean a permanently contaminated flow cell via SMS or e-mail 
  • Depending on the length of the PAL System a large number of samples can be hold ready for automated processing
